According to
Michel Clairoux, President of the Massawippi Water Protection, the
Parc Regional Massawippi has just hired a permanent employee Michel
Bélanger.
Monday June 4th, the LMWPA will
have a press conference at Ste-Elisabeth church at 10:00 am (Salle
Lucien Vachon). We will present our summer projects including a
publicity campain on cyanobacteria awareness. Will will have close
to 100 posters (36 X 24) that will be placed around the lake next
week. I will send you the images of the posters after Monday. We are
looking for volunteers that will accept to have the posters placed
on their property for the summer.
On thing we are asking the Parc
Regional is to work with the MRC of Coaticook and Memphremagog and
to do an impact study of all the Tomifobia Niger Rivers. It is the
same idea that the Tecknica study has in lake Brome.

Update from Michel Clairoux after Monday's meeting:
My association
held a press conference on Monday, it went very well, we had a lot
of media coverage. We presented our summer projects which are aimed
at the prevention of cyanobacteria.
One part of our projects is to place
posters around the lake area. You will find examples of our 4
posters. They come in 2 dimensions 18" X 36" and 24" X 48". We hope
to create a major visual impact and awareness on the cyanobacteria
problem.
Could you put them on the Club website
and ask club members if they can accept to have one poster placed on
the property particularly on Magog Road. The association will be in
charge of placing them and removing them at the end of August.
All municipalities, except North Hatley, have accepted that
we place them on utility poles. North
Hatley is for the posters idea but would not let us use
utility poles.
Please contact Michel (819-842-2722) if you are willing to have one of the posters placed on your property for the summer. We all need to be part of the solution. Here are the posters, take your pick or take all four. Thank you for your support.
