We had 24 golfers for the July 13 event at the
Royal and Ancient. Weather was iffy but some players came in
reasonably dry. Ground conditions were soggy and no doubt affected
the scores. But spirits were high and the new format was a hit.
Thanks to Ginette Cote and D’Arcy Ryan for filling in on short
notice.
Twelve teams played Chapman golf, a version of alternate-shot
competition. At the end of the day, the overall winners were Joan
Bishop/Jane Perry-Gore (Ladies) and Jamie Cameron/Roger Kimball
(Gentlemen).
Battle of the Sexes? The ladies had an average score of 50.4, the
gentlemen 48.4; maybe some room for improvement all around?
Individual prizes went to Louise Moses (Long Drive), Frank
Satterthwaite (Long Drive and Closest to the Pin), and Peter
Satterthwaite (Sportsmanship).
The players would like to thank Sherry and Paul Caron for
organizing! This was the best one yet and we look forward to
playing again in August.
