Opening day of the Farmers' Market in North Hatley began with a dedication and naming of the new sign in memory of Shirley White Haeberlin.

Jodi White, daughter of Shirley, spoke warmly of the original couples involved. Her parents and Jack and Libby Griffin conceived of the idea of a market, made the original phone calls to our local farmers and now, 30 years later, we have a bustling market from June until September. If you have never been, now is the time to go.

"There is no market like our market, be there or be square, elbowing your way to the samosas, squeezing fresh tomatoes on the fly, a hunk of goat cheese and apple pie."
